Subway plans schools outlets

FAST-food sandwich franchise Subway is set to open shops in Scottish schools and hospitals, it emerged yesterday.

The sandwich chain, which already has outlets in two Scottish universities, is in discussions to run a pilot scheme in an East Renfrewshire state secondary school.

Green Party MSP Patrick Harvie said the idea looked like "corporate sponsorship".

However, Wahid Sadiq, Subway's joint managing director of the west of Scotland's operation, said its products were freshly made and not deep fried.
