Salmond's rallying call to financiers
FIRST Minister Alex Salmond yesterday called on Scotland's financial services industry to grab the "massive investment opportunities" presented by the drive to build a sustainable low carbon economy.
Addressing more than 150 delegates from across the globe at the Aberdeen Asset Management (AAM) international investment conference, Salmond said the global renewable energy revolution would require the mobilisation of 300 billion of investment over the next generation.
He said Scottish investment companies - such as AAM - could play a major role in financing green energy projects.
Salmond said: "We are in the cusp of a huge opportunity. It is a huge opportunity in jobs terms and in engineering terms."
