Sales soaring for cushion firm
A HOME-based cushion company which started as a hobby has seen turnover soar for the third year running.
Edinburgh's web-based business Design-a-Cushions is expecting to reveal a leap in turnover of 175 per cent in the year to April 2009.
The business began to grow dramatically in the year to 2007, which saw turnover rocket by 282 per cent. This increase rose to 300 per cent in the year to 2008.
Despite the economic slowdown, figures for the year to 2009 are expected to reflect the growth trend.
Mrs Blanche said: "I started playing around with fabric when my youngest was a baby, simply out of boredom. I discovered I loved making things, coming up with new ideas and designs. I never planned to start a business, it just sort of happened."
