S&N names Orlowski as new managing director
A NEW managing director has been appointed at brewer Scottish & Newcastle – just weeks after the departure of Jeremy Blood.
Stefan Orlowski, currently group commerce director at parent company Heineken, is to take on the role from 1 July.
It had been widely expected that the position would go to the Dutch drinks giant's finance director, Ronald den Elzen.
Blood, who had worked at Edinburgh-based S&N for 21 years, left the business at the end of last month "for personal reasons".
Chief executive Jean-Franois van Boxmeer said: "I am delighted Stefan has accepted this critical leadership role in one of our highest priority markets.
"He has the right attributes and experience to address the considerable challenges of the UK market."
Orlowski added: "The chance now to work alongside a strong and talented UK management team to lead one of Heineken's most important markets is a compelling personal and professional opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started."
Didier Debrosse, the current regional president of western Europe for Heineken, has been overseeing the division since Blood's departure.
A successor to Orlowski both as group commerce director and as an executive committee member is yet to be announced.
