Row over actuaries merger bid
A ROW has broken out over plans to merge a group representing Scottish actuaries with the equivalent organisation in England.
The councils of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland and the Institute of Actuaries in England have recommended joining forces with a vote on 23 July.
But a group of actuaries opposed to the merger has accused both councils of "propaganda" on the issue.
Fidelis, the actuarial defence group, said it has been refused access to the actuarial membership, whom it claims have been bombarded with "biased survey results and promotional posters".
Their statement added: "We believe that the proposal to close down the world's first incorporated actuarial body is of such importance that it deserves balanced debate."
