Revival hopes as last Stamp Office spaces go

DEVELOPERS behind the £3 million refurbishment of the Stamp Office in Edinburgh's East End have secured tenants for the last remaining space, boosting hopes of a revival in the city's commercial property sector.

The private consortium behind the relaunch of the iconic Georgian building yesterday announced that all space has now sold out, just over a year after it was reopened.

Agents acting for the consortium, which is led by property entrepreneur Mike Rutterford, said they have secured deals with internet travel company Skyscanner and gym operator Factory Gyms for the remaining floors. Skyscanner has agreed to a ten-year lease on level five of the landmark building on Waterloo Place while Factory Gyms intends to open a new health club on the first floor before the end of the year.

The deals are likely to raise expectations that the worst of the downturn in the city's commercial property sector has passed.
