Perfume Shop scents success

A REVAMPED online service ­catering for customers shopping on their phones helped The Perfume Shop enjoy a lift in sales.

The UK’s largest specialist fragrance retailer reported a 2.4 per cent uplift in sales in the four weeks to 5 January 2013, ­despite tough trading conditions throughout the period.

The firm, which is owned by the AS Watson Group, said traffic to its website more than doubled last year leading to a 42 per cent increase in online sales.

The sales figures were also helped by 11 new stores after the business took its portfolio above the 250 mark in 2012.

Managing director Jo Walker said: “The outstanding success of our online sales, along with a fantastic array of in-store services that add value for our customers has enabled us to deliver a strong result in a challenging year.”
