Morrisons eyes Lloyds chief
EMBATTLED supermarket chain Morrisons wants to hire Lloyds TSB's financial director as one of its four non-executive directors.
The group is hoping to secure Helen Weir in the next week, although it is not yet a done deal, according to the Financial Times.
She is the second high-profile name linked to Morrisons' non-executive search in recent weeks. Deputy chairman David Jones is also thought to have approached former Asda executive Archie Norman, who recently stepped down as a Conservative MP.
Investors have called on founder Sir Ken Morrison to accelerate the rate at which independent non-executive directors are appointed.
