Former Dixons boss John Browett is making a return to the high street as chief executive of fashion retailer Monsoon Accessorize, months after his shock departure from Apple.
Browett said he was “honoured” to be taking up the role, which will see him head up more than 1,000 stores across 74 countries, including about 400 outlets in the UK.
His appointment comes after an abrupt exit from Apple in October, six months after he relocated to California to lead its global store chain. He left the group following a management shake-up amid reports of an employee backlash over plans for staffing changes at stores.
Monsoon Accessorize has been looking for a new chief executive since May last year. Founder Peter Simon said: “We conducted an extensive search for a new chief executive and John has the skills and experience needed to take Monsoon Accessorize to the next level.”
