Age discrimination

RETAILERS have been warned that they should be doing more to tackle age discrimination.

A new report by the Department of Work and Pensions found a number of unacceptable practices were still being used in the retail sector, including targeting particular age groups in recruitment drives, setting maximum recruitment ages and using age or length of service as a criteria for redundancy.

It added that the sector was vulnerable to skills shortages.
