More Scots turn to Monday-to-Friday lodgers to raise cash

More Scots are taking on Monday-to-Friday lodgers in an attempt to ease the pressure on their household finances, new research has revealed.

The number of rooms to rent that are available only between Monday and Friday has jumped in last six months as City dwellers let out their spare rooms to long-distance commuters.

Almost four in ten weekday rentals in Scotland are in Glasgow, with another 25 per cent of the listings found in Edinburgh, according to Easyroommate.co.uk.

The average Monday-to-Friday tenant in Scotland is a 40-year-old professional and pays £380 a month in rent. The rise in weekday rentals is due to a combination of commuters seeking to save money by not staying in hotels and homeowners using their spare rooms to generate extra income.
