Farmhouse wins award for best unusual events venue
A NINETEENTH century farmhouse two miles south of Inverness has won the award for the Best Unusual Venue in Scotland – beating off competition from Glasgow’s House for an Art Lover and Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons.
Bogbain Farm is the setting for three festivals – the Inverness Whisky Festival, Brew at the Bog beer festival and the Northern Roots Music Festival.
The venue is run by Bruce McGregor of Blazin’ Fiddles and Yvonne Murray – who collected the award at an Event Scotland ceremony in Glasgow on Thursday.
Murray said: “To win an award like this is absolutely fantastic – we are over the moon that our hard work over the last year or so is paying off.
“It’s very clear that the direction of our new company is much better suited to the buildings than what went before, and I’m delighted to be leading the charge with Bruce in creating a very special venue for Scotland. It’s a great feeling to be recognised by these prestigious awards – and we’ve only just begun.”
Among the upcoming events at Bogbain Farm are a concert by Charlotte Church and her new band on 20 October.
The venue is also about to be used as a wedding location for the first time.
Previously a children’s activity centre run by another company, Northern Roots Events took over the business in 2011.
