Entrepreneur Angus Grahame hoping to clean up with new product
AN ENTREPRENEUR who honed his business skills at Edinburgh University has launched a product which, he says, will revolutionise the way we buy home cleaning, laundry and dish-washing products.
Angus Grahame, who previously founded the website Activity Superstore, says his Splosh cleaning products, which can be ordered by post, will be better value and more convenient than buying from supermarket.
The businessman, who is based down south but who has Scottish roots, has created a super-concentrate range of cleaning products which come in a packet so small it can be posted through a letter box.
The entrepreneur says: “Our competitors are multi-billion pound conglomerates, but compared to Splosh I think their business models are inefficient, inconvenient for customers and really bad for the environment.”
Grahame says his products, which have been developed in conjunction with British chemists, will cut packaging by 95 per cent.
Sales are made direct from the website splosh.com. With the first order come bottles and sachets to get you started. After that, all you need are the letter box-friendly refills. Once they have the re-usable containers, customers will be able to create their own cleaning products simply by mixing the mail order sachets with water.
“Splosh is great value because we don’t deliver water and we’ve cut out all the unnecessary packaging. We’re also really easy to use – it takes less than 10 seconds to order our refills, which then pop through customers’ letter boxes.
“But the big news,” continues Grahame, “is that we’re miles better for the environment. Because our refills are so small, our Co2 emissions from transport are a fraction of our competitors’.
