A NEW European law regulating the use of cookies by online businesses comes into force today.
The legislation will require online businesses to ask their customers’ permission for using cookies – which track internet use and allow companies to build up a profile of people who log on to their internet sites.
Businesses which fail to ask permission for using the cookies could face fines of up to £500,000 if they fail to comply.
