Pension hike
NEARLY 50 per cent more women are paying into a pension than three years ago, research from HSBC has found.
It said that 54 per cent of women between 18 and 60 are now paying into a pension, up from 37 per cent in 2005. But millions could be missing out due to confusion over eligibility, HSBC warned. It said 38 per cent of women falsely believed they had to be working in order to contribute to a pension, while just 46 per cent were aware their husband could pay in to a scheme on their behalf.
