Optos revenues on the up
Fife-based eye scanner specialist Optos continued to grow revenues in the final three months of 2011 as customers renewed leasing contracts even as the firm moved to selling its devices outright.
The firm, which broadened its range of products last year with two acquisitions, said yesterday that overall revenues in its financial first quarter reached $41.9 million (£26.9m), up 63 per cent on a year earlier.
Like-for-like revenues, excluding sales of newly acquired Opto Global and Opko Health products, were up 11 per cent.
Chief executive Roy Davis said trading had remained strong in the early weeks of this year. Optos is preparing to launch its Daytona device which Davis said was receiving “good levels of interest”.
Revenue from sales surged from $4.5m to $22.8m, while the company saw 425 renewals of its lease agreements, plus 59 new rentals.
