One to watch: Braveheart
Braveheart commercialises intellectual property (IP) through its own resources and on behalf of private clients and other co-investors, and provides investment management services.
At the interim stage, Perth-based Braveheart announced a fee income increase of 35 per cent, to 329,000, with assets of about 5.1 million, equating to 35.83p per share. The company's assets are growing organically and through acquisition, demonstrated by the purchase of Envestors recently. Envestors is a specialist corporate finance advisory business that matches high growth companies with private investors.
Investors in Braveheart should be under no illusions about the risks involved as many of the prospects into which Braveheart will invest – whatever the quality of their IP – may never see commercial realisation.
On the other hand, the potential benefits to the group of a successful IPO are considerable. This is an interesting investment for those wishing to participate at the very earliest stages of any company's development and whose diverse portfolio of holdings offers some protection against individual disappointment.

Shore Capital carries a "buy" rating on supermarket giant Tesco despite viewing its Fresh & Easy chain in the United States as "an unproven work in progress". The broker noted press reports that Fresh & Easy is considering a migration away from its current larger stores to small outlets as it seeks to expand its chain.

Shares in F&C Asset Management are likely to "drift" following yesterday's EGM called by activist shareholder Sherborne, according to Peel Hunt. Analyst Mark Williamson said: "There are better opportunities elsewhere and I advocate investment in Aberdeen or Jupiter over F&C."
