Omnicare buys rival chain
INDEPENDENT pharmacy business Omnicare has acquired a four-store rival in a multi-million-pound deal.
The group, which has been on the acquisition trail since it was founded four years ago, has bought the Local Pharmacy chain, which has all of its outlets in Edinburgh. The acquisition, funded by Royal Bank of Scotland, is expected to help increase turnover to more than 7m in this financial year. RBS has supplied more than 5m to support Omnicare's expansion.
