New ranges boost Unilver's Q3 sales
UNILEVER outstripped forecasts with a 3.6 per cent rise in third-quarter underlying volume sales and forecast yesterday that its turnaround would continue into 2010.
It was the second successive quarter of volume growth for new chief executive Paul Polman, who took over in January having previously worked for consumer products' rivals Procter & Gamble and Nestl. Unilever said all regions and categories showed growth.
The Q3 volume rise was helped by the launch of products such as a new range of Lipton teas and Surf detergent in the UK.
