New nuclear power plans

SCOTTISH & Southern Energy and Iberdrola – the Spanish owner of Scottish Power – are launching a joint bid to build new nuclear power stations in the UK.

The two energy companies will kick-off their partnership by bidding for land being sold by the government's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

They will be submitting joint bids at three locations owned by the NDA in Wales, Gloucestershire and Essex, thought to be suitable for new reactor development.
