Nestlé to invest £500m in UK
NESTLÉ, the firm behind the Kit-Kat and Yorkie chocolate brands, yesterday promised £500 million of investment in its UK operation as it looks to build on a “strong year” in 2011.
The group’s overall net profits rose 8 per cent to SFr9.5 billion (£6.6bn) after revenues excluding currency movements lifted 7.5 per cent to SFr83.6bn.
There were no details on the UK performance but Nestlé said the region did well in the face of tough economic conditions. It said its commitment to the UK was shown by investment plans worth £500m over the next three years.
