Mobile takeaway goes at 160 pizzas per hour

TWO Domino's Pizza franchisees in Scotland are launching what is claimed to be the UK's largest mobile takeaway food "store on wheels".

It is 11.5 metres long and weighs in at 14.5 tonnes, and the articulated lorry's 11 staff can produce 160 pizzas per hour.

The mobile unit will make its debut at this weekend's Download Festival at Donington Park, before heading off on a tour of other festivals and events, including T in the Park, T4 on the Beach and World Superbikes.

Chris Forrester, who owns the Falkirk and Livingston Domino's branches, teamed up with Edinburgh franchisee Sean Geddes to build the new vehicle.

The pair have spent 250,000 building it.

Forrester said: "The mobile unit has taken 20 months to create and it's really exciting to see our initial idea transformed into a store on wheels."

The truck, developed with Domino's UK head office, will serve pepperoni, Hawaiian and cheese and tomato pizzas by the slice and as whole pizzas.
