Optos upbeat on rise in third-quarter revenues

Eyecare specialist Optos today said it was confident about its full-year prospects after enjoying a rise in revenues for the third quarter.

The Dunfermline-based firm, which revealed in May that its first-half profits had more than doubled, said sales have been boosted after winning more customers for its Daytona retinal scanning device.

Headline revenues for the three months to the end of June grew 5 per cent from a year earlier to $42 million (£24.5m). The company added 364 new customers.

Chief executive Roy Davis said: “We continue to see sustained demand for our unique ultra-widefield products, in particular within North America and Asia, resulting in a 15 per cent increase in our installed base.

“As we enter into Q4, traditionally our strongest quarter, we remain confident on the outlook for the full year.”
