FANCY DRESS firm Morphsuits has unveiled a change of name as it seeks to grab a larger slice of the global costumes and party market, estimated to be worth £3.5 billion.

The East Lothian-based company, founded in 2009, is rebranding as MorphCostumes to reflect its growing product range, which includes alien, cyborg and toy soldier outfits.

Co-founder Gregor Lawson said: “We sell more than just costumes – we sell awesome experiences and by rebranding to MorphCostumes we open up a lot more possibilities and we are very excited to see where this takes the brand.”

As part of the brand revamp, MorphCostumes has teamed up with “internet prankster” Rahat, star of the recent Toyota Aygo advert, who has been tasked with designing outfits and a series of videos to be released in the run-up to Halloween.

Former Nasa engineer Mark Rober, who worked on the Mars Curiosity Rover, has also developed products for the firm that use a smartphone screen to display animated images.
