Eureka looking to go global

A FAMILY-OWNED accountancy technology provider is preparing to expand overseas after a year in which sales and staffing have increased.

East Kilbride-based Eureka Solutions, which provides accounting technology to small and medium-sized enterprises, is on course to generate sales of nearly £2.1 million for the year to 30 April, a 30 per cent rise year-on-year.

Meanwhile, employee numbers have risen by almost a fifth to 31.

All of the growth has come from within the UK, where Eureka specialises in the wholesale and distribution sectors. Alistair Livingstone, who set up the business in 1996, said they were “excellent figures in a business environment which continues to challenge”.

“In the current economic climate, it is not the case that everybody stopped spending money, but people are more careful and want to be sure they are getting value for money,” he said.

To date, the company has built its business on Sage products designed for accounting in the UK. However, it has recently added NetSuite to its armoury, a cloud-based product appropriate for any English-speaking region.

Eureka will begin a push into the United States in May with an exhibition at NetSuite’s annual convention in San Francisco. Livingstone said the company would target similar markets to those it supports in the UK.

New clients during the past year include Glasgow-based Smarter Grid Solutions.
