Travel website Toowist aiming to fly high
What its founder is billing as the world’s biggest travel guide web service was due to be officially launched today.
Boasting some 30,000 independent reviews, Toowist claims to offer the most extensive library of travel guides, “written for travellers by travellers”.
Founded earlier this year by Scottish “web futurist” Stephen Whitelaw, Toowist will also offer users the option to book their holiday, with everything from rental cars to travel insurance covered.
Whitelaw said: “Toowist offers more destination guides than any other site. Anyone can sign up and write a guide, meaning we offer an impartial and unbiased review of the world.
“Our guides map out every corner of the planet from Antarctica to Zimbabwe.”
He added: “Tourists are much savvier than they were five to ten years ago – online research allows holiday makers to instantly find the most up-to-date information.”
TripAdvisor, founded in 2000, is probably the best known of the travel information websites.
