Sooty finds a new home at One Media

Classic Sooty episodes are to find a new home on the internet after music and video rights acquisition vehicle One Media paid an undisclosed sum for the distribution rights to some of the character’s back catalogue.

Richard Cadell, the children’s entertainer who has appeared alongside the glove puppet since 1999, remains Sooty’s sole owner and said he would continue to produce new shows featuring the glove puppet bear, Sweep the dog and Soo the panda.

He added: “I see the relationship with One Media as an opportunity for them to find an audience for some of the classic early Harry Corbett episodes and so that some of the older fans of Sooty can again appreciate this wonderful character.”

One Media chairman and chief executive Michael Infante said the shows will be packaged for sale across a variety of digital platforms such as Amazon, iTunes and YouTube.
