SMG awaits strike decision BoI expansion

SMG is expected to learn on Wednesday whether industrial action has been avoided at Scottish Television and Grampian Television when it reveals how many staff have applied for voluntary redundancy.

There is speculation that some higher earners have put themselves forward, which could reduce the required 59 job cuts and avoid compulsory redundancies.

BANK of Ireland will move to a new Scottish head office within weeks as it seeks a bigger share of Scotland's corporate and property banking market.

The company will have enough room to double its 24-strong corporate and property banking team.

Bernie McDonald, who heads BoI's Scottish operations, said she hoped to land another 250m of business this year after restructuring to focus on commercial work 18 months ago. The company's clients include Kenmore, the commercial property firm, and Cala, the housebuilder.
