Internet: Earth's mightiest pets
SUPER CATS AND BLOGS
FILE this under "You Think You Know Somebody": this little blog is a treasure trove of dry wit, with an eye for a good comic. It is also the work of Critique sub-editor Martin Gray, who, it turns out, reviews comics in his spare time. It's all done with a keen eye for a quirky mag: Marvel's surprisingly fun tale of Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers, anyone?
VENT SOME SPLEEN
WFMU is an American college radio station with attitude which eschews the usual emo, goth, straight-edge indie rock fodder in preference for good stuff of no fixed genre. Pay a visit just to witness the clip of a terrifying 1960s ventriloquist act, in which the man – who bears an uncanny resemblance to the Hollywood star Christopher Walken – is relegated to the silent partner as his dummy screams in his face for about four minutes. It's brilliant stuff.
CHEESEY LYRICS
IMAGINE trawling through the cheese counter in your local supermarket, picking up a nice little bit of stilton, then, when you look for the price, discovering the lyrics of an overblown arena rock band song. Your mind would undoubtedly be blown. Well, at least that's what the bored shop worker who did this thought. Except it's horrific sounding "assorted cheese", which only the Americans could offer as an attractive comestible.

THIS is a special little link, as it represents something that will perhaps one day enter rock lore. Click on it – as we went to press, at least – and you'll find a perfectly legal streaming of the new and as-yet-unreleased Danger Mouse recording, Dark Night of the Soul. Now that in itself is worth dropping in for – Mr Mouse has been involved in some the most interesting releases of the past five years, Gorillaz and Gnarls Barkley included – but it seems a stramash between him and his record label means it is doubtful that Dark Night will ever hit record shops.
