Catchphrase a winner for STV

STV’s production arm has won a commission from ITV1 for eight episodes of the long-running television quiz show Catchphrase.

The updated series will be hosted by Stephen Mulhern and feature a new set, 3D graphics and a “dynamic new end game”, the Scottish broadcasting group said yesterday.

The shows will be co-produced with DRG, the international distribution partner of STV Productions.

Alan Clements, director of content for STV, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing this iconic game show back to viewers on Saturday evenings.

“The original series ran for 14 years and we are confident that the revival of Catchphrase, including the return of Mr Chips, will be a ratings success.”

STV shares dipped 0.25p to 92.5p.
