MUSIC: WE CAME FROM WOLVES

A four piece post-rock band from Perth, We Came From Wolves will be kicking off their tour in the capital tonight. Drawing comparisons to Scottish rock heavyweights Biffy Clyro and the Xcerts, the alt-rockers are on to something special and have been making waves in the Scottish music scene since their debut EP Cope, released in 2012. Known for their hard-hitting riffs, this show will be a loud one.

THEATRE: THE LAST YANKEE

Celebrating the centenary of Arthur Miller, Rapture Theatre is producing one of the writer’s last great plays. The Last Yankee features Miller’s prominent theme of the devastation caused by failure to achieve the American dream. Leroy Hamilton, a descendant of one of America’s founding fathers, has rejected the idea of the American dream and becomes estranged from his wife Patricia, who is in hospital suffering from depression, in the process. The Last Yankee will be part of the Scottish Mental Health Film and Theatre Festival 2015.

EXHIBITION: ART OF BILLY CONNOLLY

The drawings and sketches of Billy Connolly have been on display at the People’s Palace since late August, but there’s still plenty of time to see it. The exhibition, showcasing the comedian’s extraordinary work, will be open to the public until the end of February. More than 40 drawings for his early days as a musician and stand-up will be accompanied by items made for him, including the oversized banana boots created in 1975 by Glasgow pop artist Edmund Smith.

CLUB: CRAZY MUTHAS

A club night for a good cause, Crazy Muthas will be taking over the Old Hairdressers tonight. Scottish Album of the Year nominees Happy Meals will be exclusively performing alongside Deep Brandy Album Cuts to support new mums across the country. All proceeds will be going to Bluebells – Scotland’s only specialist charity for perinatal mental health.

FILM: PASOLINI

Pasolini is a biopic of the last days of filmmaker and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini before his murder in 1975. Director Abel Ferrara captures the life of a man who was uncompromising, fearless and shocked by contemporary Italian society. Played brilliantly by Willem Dafoe, the film creates a surprising and, at times, challenging portrait of an artist taken too soon.
