Maxim Park lands new Currie & Brown centre

ASSET management consultancy Currie & Brown is to create a new operating centre at Maxim Office Park alongside the M8 in North Lanarkshire.

It is taking an initial 12,000 sqft with further options for expansion. The deal will provide some relief to Maxim's developers and investors who have 756,000 sq ft of space to fill in what is the UK's largest speculative office park development.

Its ten buildings replaced the former Chunghwa television tubes factory, which had promised more than 3,000 jobs.

Maxim is on the market during a tough time for commercial property and lettings have been limited to workplace solutions provider Regus and a number of companies providing services to the tenants who will hopefully arrive in the coming months. They include delicatessen Berits & Brown, convenience store Amigo and nursery Papillon.

Commenting on the deal, Currie & Brown UK chief operating officer Andrew Loudon said: "In Scotland we have a significant and growing business. Glasgow and Edinburgh are very important markets, embracing both public and private sectors. This move aligns with our clients' requirements as we help them identify key issues within their overall asset management strategy. The whole aim is to assist in improved operational efficiency and closer working together."

Maxim chief executive, Karen Campbell, said: "As the market continues to improve I believe we are ideally placed to roll out our vision of becoming one of the UK's key business destinations. This will play a positive role in enhancing both the local Lanarkshire and wider Scottish economies."

Currie & Brown is a global consultancy advising clients on the planning and implementation of whole life asset management plans and strategies.

Founded in Glasgow in 1876, the firm now operates throughout the UK, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, India and Japan. It employs nearly 1,000 people worldwide, and was awarded a Queen's Award in recognition of its international growth in 2008. Maxim adds to its Edinburgh and Glasgow operations.
