Marketing a new festival for industry
A NEW festival for the marketing industry is being launched alongside Edinburgh's main festival season this summer. The Marketing Society will unveil plans for the new event showcasing Scotland's marketing talent tonight at its annual St Andrew's dinner.
The society has teamed up with William Burdett-Coutts, manager of the Assembly Rooms, to create the inaugural festival.
Planners expect it will be a four-day event which will include keynote speakers, workshops, a conference, drinks receptions and an awards programme for the best marketing initiative by a Fringe performer.
Other marketing organisations will be invited to put on their own events alongside it.
The event will be funded by sponsorship, but the society is also looking for some funding from Scottish Government.
Graeme Atha, chairman of Frame Advertising and chairman of the Marketing Society, said: "We would love government to support the creative industries."
