Market expansion boosts Fergusson
FERGUSSON Group, the Stirling-based coal merchant, was yesterday warmed by a 120 per cent rise in turnover to £121 million after expanding into the industrial and power station markets.
Pre-tax profits at the group – which is run by brothers Tom and Alan Fergusson – grew by 270 per cent to 10.2m.
Fergusson employs about 200 staff and has ten depots in Scotland. As well as owning 60 local coal merchants, the company imports coal and acts as a wholesaler throughout the UK, supplying clients in the domestic, industrial and power station markets.
