One to Watch: Ben Bernanke

THE US Federal Reserve chairman is under increasing pressure to provide guidance on whether he is planning a third round of quantitative easing.

Markets will closely scrutinise his annual speech to central bankers at Jackson Hole in Wyoming for signs of a change in policy, and this year there is more speculation than ever after recent minutes from the Fed suggested stimulus could come “soon”.

However, Bernanke is known for keeping his cards close to his chest.
