Ten most anti-social driving habits to avoid

THIS week Quotemehappy.com, the online insurer for careful drivers, launched a campaign to tackle anti-social driving and promote courtesy on UK roads. Here are the top ten of anti-social driving habits we should try to avoid out on the roads.

1 TAILGATING

Tailgating is guaranteed to wind up other drivers – it’s one of the top five anger-inducing situations.

2 not acknowledging mistakes

Not acknowledging a mistake can easily frustrate. Raise your hand to show you are aware that you made an error.

3 Eyeballing

“Eyeballing”, horn-honking and obscene gesturing are common anti-social driving traits.

4 it’s not all about you

Remember, when another driver misbehaves it’s not normally directed at you.

5 Don’t Rush

Rushing to make up for lost time is a one-way ticket to anti-social driving. Plan ahead so that you are not under pressure to make up time on the road.

6 ditch the tunes

Aggressive fast-paced music has the potential to make our driving faster and more aggressive.

7 don’t try to change others

Taking the law into your own hands is bad driving practice. Take responsibility for your own actions but don’t think you can change the behaviour of others.

8 Let people in

Not letting other drivers into the queue is another bad habit. Treat other drivers in a kind and courteous manner – you’ll likely feel much better for it!

9 don’t be a right-hand lane hog

Staying in the right-hand lane when there are faster cars behind you has been highlighted as one of the least courteous
on-road actions.

10 don’t talk on the phone

Talking on a handheld mobile phone is not only illegal, but shows a total lack of respect for the road and fellow road users.
