Rugby hero urges firms to tackle run

SCOTTISH rugby legend Scott Hastings has called on local businesses to get behind the BUPA Great Edinburgh Run.

Scotland's all-time leading try scorer believes that as well as a personal fitness boost, companies can benefit from increased morale and improved teamwork filtering back into the workplace.

Sixty-five times capped Mr Hastings is aiming to enter a team from Platinum One, the events management agency he runs with brother and former Scotland rugby captain Gavin, who was capped 61 times. But he wants firms across the Lothians to rise to the "Business Challenge" aspect of Scotland's leading road race.

Last year a record 8000 people took part in run, which takes in many of Edinburgh's most recognised landmarks.

"The BUPA Great Edinburgh Run Business Challenge is a great way to get staff involved and build team morale," said Mr Hastings.

The 10km race takes place on Sunday, May 6, and the Business Challenge is open to all small, medium and large businesses with a prize for the top three businesses in each category.
