Rake takes top role at CBI
Outgoing EasyJet chairman Sir Mike Rake has been named as the next president of the CBI.
The City grandee, who also chairs BT and is deputy chairman of Barclays, will succeed Sir Roger Carr at the helm of the employers’ organisation in June.
Carr said: “I am confident that director-general John Cridland and Sir Mike will work well together and that the voice of business will continue to be both authoritative and clear.”
Rake, a former chairman of “big four” accounting firm KPMG, is stepping down from EasyJet’s board this summer after three years in the post.
He survived an attempt by founder and major shareholder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou to have him ousted last year amid a row over his other commitments.
