A FAST-growing British gym group with a strong Scottish presence has unveiled plans to open a further 40 outlets in 2015 and make its first foray overseas.
Pure Gym, which pulled a £300 million merger with Gym Group last summer after the Competition & Markets Authority launched an investigation into the tie-up, opened 30 gyms this year to take its total up to 90.
That includes about 20 in Scotland, including six in Edinburgh, four in Glasgow and five in Paisley.
Peter Roberts, Pure Gym’s chief executive, who set up the business in 2009, said: “We remain very busy and have a lot of plans for the coming year.
“In terms of organic growth we are confident we can open another 40 gyms countrywide. That will include Scotland, which remains our best market. It is a big pipeline, but we are fortunate to have supportive shareholders.”
Pure Gym was bought up by American private equity group CCMP last year.
