Oppenheimer on board for Tesco
THE former head of Barclays’ retail operations in the UK has joined the board of Tesco as it looks to take on the high street banks.
Deanna Oppenheimer, voted the second most powerful woman in banking in the world in 2010, will join the retail giant as a non-executive director next month.
Senior independent director Graham Pimlott is also stepping down from the main board to become chairman of the bank, replacing Andy Higginson who is retiring in two weeks. Some 2,250 of the bank’s employees are in Scotland.
