HIGH streets will be back under the spotlight tomorrow when the British Retail Consortium (BRC) publishes its next retail sales monitor.

Director-general Stephen Robertson, pictured, and his team at the BRC will be keeping a sharp eye out for signs of how muted wage growth and rising fuel prices are taking their toll on wider consumer spending.

Scottish figures published last week showed food price inflation continued to rise, but spending on non-food items had taken a tumble.
