One to watch: John Bond

THE chairman of miner Xstrata is this week expected to reveal the board’s position in respect of Glencore’s renewed takeover approach.

Glencore was forced to sweeten its offer for Xstrata as investors threatened to block the deal on valuation grounds. It also sought to ensure its own chief executive would get the top job at the new £50 billion company. Reports suggest Bond will back the deal but will seek assurances on board structure.
