Lawyers’ app allows on the spot injury claims
A LAW firm has launched a smartphone app that allows accident victims to file compensation claims for injury immediately.
The app lets victims of car crashes or workplace accidents attach photographs from the scene of the incident to their claims, along with witness statements and other supporting material.
Leith-based law firm Watermans has already supplied the technology to several taxi firms and fleet operators.
Within 30 minutes of submitting their injury claim, Watermans said it would be in touch with victims to process their application. The practice, which turns over about £2.2 million a year, expects the app, which is distributed for free, will generate a further £300,000 in fee revenue for the firm.
Watermans has brought on board Leith-based digital agency Crush to market the app for use by other law firms.
Rafael Cueto, managing director, said: “This is an example of how smartphones are being used to perform previously complex and time-consuming functions.
“Watermans has shown how people working in niche areas can develop products that have the potential to make a lot of money for them.”
