Goals gets another period of extra time for bid talks

Goals Soccer Centres, the East Kilbride-based five-a-side football pitch operator, has been granted a third extension to the deadline for talks over a possible takeover bid from a Canadian pension fund.

The private equity arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) has been given until 9 July to carry on discussions with Goals over a possible offer for the company, as predicted in Scotland on Sunday.

Analysts have suggested that Goals could be worth around £73 million and that the OTPP would look to expand the company’s international presence.

Goals currently has 42 centres in the UK and just one overseas, in Los Angeles.
