Business briefs: Life is tweet for motor group’s social network | More QE expected | Ocado losses loom
EASTERN Western Motor Group, one of Scotland’s largest car dealership chains, has hired a digital marketing agency to drive its online plans.
Hillington-based NSDesign will train managers from Eastern Western’s dealerships to use social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. The training will be carried out by NSDesign managing director Gary Ennis.
“Twitter and Facebook are great tools for Eastern Western as they will enable individual dealerships to communicate more effectively with their customers and also to reach out to new ones,” Ennis said. “Customers will be able to make inquiries online and get a very quick response.”
ECONOMISTS expect the Bank of England to fire the gun on further quantitative easing next week after Wednesday’s GDP figures showed the economy contracted at the end of 2011. Citi economist Michael Saunders said he expects £75billion-£100bn to be pumped into the economy on top of the existing £275bn of QE.
OCADO, the online grocer, is widely expected to reveal fresh losses in its full-year results on Tuesday. It issued a profits warning last year and analysts, many of whom question Ocado’s viability, do not expect stronger Christmas trading to have dragged its bottom line into the black.
