A BOARDROOM reshuffle at transport firm Stobart yesterday saw Avril Palmer-Baunack, who joined the group when it acquired Autologic in June, promoted to the post of deputy chief executive.
The firm, which owns the Eddie Stobart brand, also re-appointed William Stobart as an executive director after he took time out of operational work to help restructure the firm’s transport business.
Company secretary Richard Butcher takes on the top role of Stobart Estates, with additional responsibilities for identifying investment opportunities for in the firm’s biomass division.
Wood wins Gazprom modelling contract
Aberdeen based energy services firm Wood Group has been hired to provide a modelling “subsystem” for a compressor that will pipe gas across Europe.
The firm said yesterday it has been awarded the contract by Gazprom. The compressor station on the Baltic coast is part of a trunk line which will supply Russian gas to Europe as well as northern Russia.
£2m shed deal not singing the blues
ONe of Scotland’s most distinctive industial units has changed hands in a deal worth some £2 million.
Anderson Precision Gearing (APG) has purchased The Big Blue Shed, which extends to almost 144,000sq ft and is located on Bellshill Industrial Estate. The firm will use it as a base to continue its operations in the specialist gear manufacturing sector.
Azeri gas field set to beat targets
The Shah Deniz offshore gas field led by BP could end up pumping significantly more gas than currently planned when a second stage of the project comes online in 2017, Azerbaijan’s energy minister said yesterday.
Shah Deniz 2, as the expansion project is called, is currently targeting output of 16 billion cubic metres of natural gas per year, most of which will help reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian gas.
