Job market remains steady

THE SCOTTISH job market is remaining stable, according to the latest research from the Bank of Scotland.

The group’s Labour Market Report, released today, showed that despite a slight dip in the rate of jobs growth in May, over the last three months, employment growth in Scotland has been broadly unchanged.

Growth of permanent staff placements improved and demand for staff in Scotland continued to increase at a faster pace than for the UK as a whole.

Nursing or medical positions remained the most sought-after job category for both permanent and temporary staff.

Martin Ellis, chief economist at the Bank of Scotland, said: “Jobs growth in Scotland remains relatively firm despite a moderating in market conditions since last summer.”
