John Clark expands its Skoda arm into Perth
John Clark, one of Scotland’s biggest motor dealerships, has made its first move into the Perth area with the acquisition of the Thomson & Potter Skoda dealership.
Chairman and managing director John Clark said the move was strategic geographically and in terms of building the company’s Skoda offering.
“It puts us in a very strong position with the rapidly developing Skoda brand, as we now operate the three adjoining territories for Skoda covering Grampian and Tayside,” he said.
Clark had built up a war chest for expansion after record profits last year.
Based in Burrelton, ten miles from Perth, Thomson & Potter has held the Skoda franchise for more than 25 years. With annual sales of about 400 new and used cars, the business has a turnover of some £5.5 million.
Seller David Gilbertson is remaining with the business alongside all 17 members of staff.
