Havelock sells fume extraction arm for £420,000

Havelock Europa, the Dalgety Bay-based shop fitter, has sold its fume extractor business to a Yorkshire firm for £420,000.

The group bought Clean Air, which is based in Bolton and produces fume extractor cupboards for schools, colleges and industrial clients, in 2004 but has decided to sell the firm to concentrate on its core business of retail and educational interiors.

Havelock said the business, which has been bought by Halifax-based Perrott Engineering, made a pre-tax loss of £50,000 on sales of £2.18 million last year and had net assets of £970,000.

The group is due to give an update on current trading towards the end of next month, and said the sale of Clean Air was not expected to make a material impact on profits.
