Good copy for Capital Solutions with £1.5m expansion plan
CAPITAL Solutions, the Edinburgh-based office supplies group, is to spend £1.5 million to expand its operations and refurbish current Scottish facilities.
Founder and managing director Tom Flockhart said the investment was designed to reflect the advances in technology and sophistication the company's product range had undergone in recent years. At the same time, the firm said it had won a contract from the Scottish Parliament for multi-functional copiers, although it declined to give any financial details of the deal.
The biggest chunk of the cash - 1m - has been earmarked for the purchase and fit-out of a new 5100sq ft, two-storey office in Glasgow, which is planned to open in January and replace its present facility. Capital said it was currently recruiting for "several additional key roles" as part of its expansion plans for the west of Scotland.
The company, which was founded in 1979 and now has an annual turnover of 10m, is also lavishing almost 500,000 on renovation and refurbishment work at its McDonald Road HQ in Edinburgh, where around 100 of its 135 staff are employed.
A complete overhaul of the interior and a new facade are part of the transformation. And its smallest base, in Galashiels, will also benefit from around 50,000 of upgrading work.
Mr Flockhart said: "As our product range continues to become increasingly sophisticated and versatile, we feel it is important that we create an atmosphere across our sites which reflects that."
